Carly's Negotiation for a New Job

Carly was looking for a new job during the pandemic. Though she’d had some contact with a possible new employer, she became frustrated because the employer was unresponsive in getting back to her. When she learned that the employer had offered the job to two others, she took action. She describes what happened next: “I decided to send the employer an email and include this information I had learned. I crafted the email to be polite rather than rude and spiteful. I got a response from them in 20 minutes! This class spurred my idea to communicate with this employer by letting them know that I was aware of their other hires and by being polite and thoughtful. I am very proud of myself and how I handled this situation, as I am learning to use negotiation, not force.”
