Charlene Proctor grew up in Richmond, VA and Randallstown, MD. She received a B.A. in Economics from Hampton University and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law. Upon completion of law school, Charlene began working for the federal government as an attorney specializing in EEO and federal personnel law. Charlene has managed EEO programs and received certifications in alternative dispute resolution, workplace investigations, and diversity and inclusion practices. Charlene began volunteering with Negotiation Works in 2020. She taught with us at the Georgetown University Pivot Program and also was an instructor on our video series, “A Negotiation Blueprint for Everyday Life”. Charlene enjoys teaching negotiation classes and seeing students grow stronger in their confidence to navigate through everyday difficult situations. Working with students in Georgetown University’s Pivot Program has been especially rewarding for her as she recognizes she is assisting in an individual’s journey to re-enter society . Charlene says that giving back through Negotiation Works allows her to inspire and remind some very determined individuals that their stories can be rewritten in many ways, including by learning new strategies for dealing with conflict in their lives and negotiating for wins.
