Anita Vazquez grew up in Westmont, Illinois and graduated in May 2023 from Georgetown Universityβs School of Foreign Service, where she studied Culture & Politics, Migration and Gender, and Women & Gender Studies. She previously worked for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, advocating for workers' rights during the height of COVID policy changes. She also researched and published two studies on police brutality with Rise Against Hate and continued her work advocating for workers' rights by compiling an employee handbook for Family @ Work. Anita joined Negotiation Works as a summer intern because of its mission to help marginalized individuals in Washington D.C. gain everyday negotiating and self advocacy skills; as the first in her family to graduate from college, Anita knows and appreciates the importance of these skills. Anita is excited about conducting research for Negotiation Works and gaining experience with data analysis. She also looks forward to creating relationships with other volunteers and learning more about what it means to start a non-profit from the ground up.
