Mihret Willis, Negotiation Works 2024 summer intern, was born in Ethiopia but grew up in Boulder, Colorado. After a year at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Mihret transferred to American University and will graduate in December 2024 with a degree in justice, law, and criminal justice. She’s eager to work in criminal justice reform, and decided to intern at Negotiation Works because of her connection to the mission and how important it is that marginalized people learn the tools for communication, self-advocacy, and conflict resolution. She’s especially interested in speaking with current and former program participants to help with our long-term program evaluation. As someone who has spent a lot of time studying criminal justice case studies and data, Mihret is looking forward to hands-on field work so she can continue to make a difference and support our class participants.
