Volunteer Data Analyst Alice Taveres: Translating Data into Digestible Stories

Alice began volunteering with Negotiation Works in December of 2021, shortly after she moved to Washington, DC. She is originally from Brazil and had worked in the field of international development in Spain before becoming a strategy consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to moving to the United States, she studied geophysics, attended culinary school, and volunteered with local organizations in Rio de Janeiro. Alice sought to identify a meaningful volunteer position after her move, and when she became familiar with Negotiation Works, she felt it was the perfect fit for her.

As a volunteer data analyst, Alice is responsible for analyzing participant questionnaires for patterns that allow Negotiation Works to tailor the curriculum to specific classes and organizations. When talking about her work, Alice explains that “she extracts information and stories from the data…and translates the numbers and data into digestible stories.” On top of doing data analysis, Alice has especially enjoyed sitting in on Negotiation Works classes and seeing first-hand the advocacy skills and empowerment tools people learn. When she isn’t working or volunteering, Alice loves cooking, traveling to new places, and exploring cave formations.
