Free Minds Book Club and the Georgetown Pivot Program feature Negotiation Works

Two local organizations that work with justice-involved individuals featured our work in their fall 2023 publications.

Free Minds Book Club produces a bi-monthly magazine called Free Minds Connect, which is sent on a bi-monthly basis to currently incarcerated individuals in more than 100 correctional institutions around the country. The publication contains essays, poetry, and art created by members of the Free Minds community, along with profiles of organizations that are involved in re-entry work. For their fall 2023 edition, which focuses on the theme of “Growth”; Free Minds staff interviewed Negotiation Works Executive Director Melissa Reinberg about how using negotiation skills can support the growth and empowerment of individuals and communities. The story can be found on page 15 of this edition.

Pivot’s Negotiation Works class fosters development of interpersonal skills Fellows can personally implement starting on the first day of class. The ability to preserve one’s own interests while practicing healthy and successful ways to navigate conflict are key to Fellows’ reentry and entrepreneurial or professional pursuits”
